Spinosaurus in Jurassic World Rebirth?

Dr. DJ Hadoken 7 the Fake Paleontologist has this to say:

The Spinosaurus is rumored to appear in the upcoming Jurassic World movie, “Jurassic World Rebirth”. Since it’s still the year of Spinosaurus, and I announced at the beginning of this year that, moving forward, Spinosaurus will be the official guardian of this blog, I feel that I have a great responsibility to report on this.

Currently, the movie is set to be released on July 2, 2025. So we should be receiving some confirmation any day now (most likely via a trailer) as to whether the rumors are true.

According to the official synopsis (on jurassicworld.com), in the movie, Zora Bennett (played by Scarlett Johansson) will be leading a “skilled team” to secure genetic material from the world’s “three most massive dinosaurs”.

Whether Spinosaurus can be counted among the “three most massive dinosaurs” or not is up for debate. But at least we know that the movie will have multiple big dinosaurs in the spotlight. So maybe the Spinosaurus will at least make a cameo appearance, even if it isn’t included in the “big three”.

Now that the rumor mill is abuzz with talk of the Spinosaurus returning, many of you may be wondering if there will be any Spinosaurus jokes in the movie. I can confirm that I’ve heard a rumor that Aquilops will appear in the movie.

In case you don’t know, Aquilops was a cat-sized dinosaur with a spiked (ceratopsian) nose. And according to one of the fossilized Spinosaurus jokes we’ve unearthed, Spinosaurus got its name from a confused Aquilops couple that was trying to write “Spiked Noses R Us” on what they thought was a mountainside.

So in my scientific and fake paleontological opinion, the inclusion of Aquilops is a strong indicator towards the inclusion of Spinosaurus in “Jurassic World Rebirth”. The question remains, however, will there be Spinosaurus jokes? And I won’t hold my breath for this, but it would be nice to see a vulture in the movie, alongside Spinosaurus. Maybe we can even get a Spinosaurus and vulture joke?

Yes, I am aware of the Spinosaurus appearance in “Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous”, but I have not watched a single episode of that show yet, so I am unable to make an educated comment about it. Nor am I aware of the presence or lack of Spinosaurus jokes in that show. Or the presence of any vultures, for that matter.

Until we get more news about Spinosaurus’ big screen return, I’ll leave you with a recently unearthed Spinosaurus joke, that happens to be Aquilops-related. Let’s keep our fingers crossed and take this as a good sign of things to come.

Q. Why couldn’t the pack of hitchhiking Aquilopses hitch a ride with a Spinosaurus?

A. Because the Spinosaurus got a flat foot after running over some road spikes.

In case you missed it, I recently wrote some rap lyrics with Spinosaurus.
