Dr. DJ Hadoken 7 the Fake Paleontologist has this to say:
Greetings. There was quite a bit of activity on the blog from December up to New Year’s, but it’s been mostly radio silence since then. That’s because I’ve been helping out at the construction site of the new message board over at riafunk.com. Things are moving along quite smoothly behind the scenes, and perhaps, after a little bit more tweaking, a “soft launch” may be on the horizon.
But enough about that. I grabbed my paleontological hard hat and hopped onto a taxi in order to get back to the construction site of this blog and deliver some BREAKING SPINOSAURUS NEWS.
Actually, it’s not BREAKING because it’s already been a few days since the news came out. So I’m actually late on this. And it’s almost pointless to speculate about this news because the Jurassic World Rebirth trailer should be appearing any day now.
But I felt that it’s a matter of journalistic integrity that I report on this. Because Spinosaurus is now the official guardian a.k.a. mascot of this blog and we’ve even got a live one collaborating on rap lyrics over here.
So, apparently, Spinosaurus has been “mostly confirmed” to appear in Jurassic World Rebirth. This is according to information found in a toy catalog from a toy exposition that was held recently in Brazil.
The toy catalog features descriptions of upcoming toys based on the Jurassic World Rebirth movie, and Spinosaurus was included among the lineup. The description of the toy suggests that its appearance is based on the Spinosaurus from the Jurassic World Rebirth movie. So it’s not like some spin-off toy of a dinosaur that doesn’t actually appear in the movie. Unfortunately, the catalog itself did not contain any Spinosaurus jokes or any information pertaining to whether or not there would be Spinosaurus jokes in the movie.
As far as I can tell, the name of the exposition was “Toy Fair 2025 LATAM” (LATAM being short for Latin America) and was probably held by Mattel because there’s a big “80” (for their 80th year anniversary) with the Mattel logo inside of it next to the exposition’s title, on a website that I found. The website is a Mattel-official-looking website, but the URL is actually just an IP address that displays a login page with a logo for the exposition and a Mattel-themed background.
If I try to look up any more information about that specific toy exposition, however, I can’t find any information as to when or where exactly in Brazil it was held. All I can assume is that it was held somewhere near São Paulo because I found information about a Mattel office located in that city. And it gets confusing because there’s another seemingly unrelated “Toy Fair” exposition that was held recently at the Olympia Exhibition Centre in London. But Mattel isn’t listed as an exhibitor on the website for that one.
I cannot find much evidence that the exposition in Brazil actually even happened, for that matter. So maybe it was a private exposition that was hidden from the internet because it was intended for toy businesses only (a.k.a. B2B) but somebody leaked the catalog. Or maybe it’s an elaborate hoax.
The only “evidence” of this toy exposition happening that I can find are images posted to Instagram, YouTube, and other social media sites. So, who knows where those images actually originated from? The more I look into this on social media, honestly, the more it seems like a massive pile of coprolite. Very reminiscent of the marketing strategy that was utilized for what I dubbed a “M.F.S.M. crapterpiece”, Jurassic World Dominion.
Despite the prehistoric fumes rising from this massive pile of coprolite, I’m inclined to believe that this is a legitimate leak from a private B2B event. Why would someone bother to pull off such an elaborate hoax just before a trailer (that would instantly debunk it) gets released?
Either way, in my fake paleontological opinion, whether the supposedly leaked toy catalog is real or an elaborate M.F.S.M. hoax, the details about Jurassic World Rebirth’s plot that have already been revealed via official channels suggest a high likelihood of Spinosaurus making some sort of an appearance in the movie.
As to whether or not there will be any Spinosaurus jokes in the movie, well, much like the answer to why Spinosaurus likes to travel with vultures, the answer is still up in the air.
