DJ Hadoken 7 has this to say:
As reconstruction and revival of the old posts continues on this site, I’ve come across a few “time anomalies” that I talked about in my first Mandela Effect post. Just recently, I came across one that is apparently NOT an actual “time anomaly” that I had not noticed yet when I wrote the first post.
It’s about the original “landing page” of RIAfunk. Back in the day, when someone would visit the Geocities site, there would be an “entrance” with some text and images. The visitor would then have to scroll down and click the big RIA logo on the bottom to “enter” the actual site. Thus, “landing page” because it’s the first page they would “land” on.
On the original landing page, the following text (that I wrote in 2001) appears:
Eat my wheatcakes, I say, eat them and you will see what it is to be trampled
by monkeys wearing funny hats and red coats. Eat them and you will see the
colors of the blackboard eraser spread throughout the entire spectrum that is
on a Froot Loops box.
If you’re already Mandela Effect-savvy, you should have spotted that “Froot Loops” is there and not “Fruit Loops”. Since this is digital media, you’re just going to have to take my word that I have not purposefully altered the spelling in the original text in order to talk about the Mandela Effect.
First of all, in “my reality”, “Froot Loops” has always been the correct spelling. So there’s no issue here if you are skeptical about the Mandela Effect. You could probably stop reading here and be on your way, then.
Now for the more inquisitive out there, I will elaborate a little more about why I remember it as always being “Froot Loops” and not “Fruit Loops” and let you come to your own conclusion as to what’s actually going on with this particular Mandela Effect.
I wrote the text on the original landing page and still have a recollection of what I was doing and thinking at the time (early 2000’s). For whatever reason, there were multiple occasions back then where I found myself typing out the name of that particular cereal on my computer. For example, like when I would chat with people on AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) or something.
At first, I was confused as to whether it was spelled “froot” or “fruit”. The cereal was shaped like O’s, so it just made more sense to spell it “froot”. But I also knew that “froot” was not the correct spelling of “fruit”. I became so confused that I recall grabbing a cereal box once to check and confirm that it was indeed “froot” and not “fruit”.
And I also remember hearing from someone that the cereal is called “Froot Loops” because it doesn’t actually have any fruit in it. That also makes sense. Stupid name for stupid kids who won’t know the difference, anyway.
There you have it. The Froot Loops Mandela Effect on the RIAfunk site? Probably not. You decide!!!
Perhaps it was spelled incorrectly as “froot” on the box in order to prevent kids, their primary consumers, from learning how to spell “fruit” the correct way. The most susceptible would learn to always associate the word that sounds like “froot” with the cereal product and not actual fruit and thus HOOK THEM FOR LIFE.
Whether it’s an actual NOT Mandela Effect or just a case of bad memory (meaning there is an actual Froot Loops Mandela Effect happening here), I felt that it was INTRIGUING enough that it would be worth writing this post.
What about “Fuit Loops”?
YOU DECIDE!!!
